Stories from the road.

Essays, stories, books, and general musings from P.A. Tennant — fantasy and science fiction on one side, a meandering search for what is good and true and beautiful on the other. New writing once a week.

— about the writer

Welcome to Story Road.

I’m Paul, a semi-retired Engineer and Program Manager who has spent forty(ish) years in the Defense and Aerospace industry. I’ve also spent a lifetime reading, writing, studying, teaching, mentoring, and raising a family. One thing I’ve learned along the way is that the most effective form of communication – at work, at church, or at home – is a good story.

A meandering journey through this life in search of what is good, and true, and beautiful.

After a few decades of work, a couple dozen Technical Publications, and more reports, briefs, and statuses than I care to remember, I’m turning my attention to writing things that I actually want to. The world is pretty dark at the moment, so I try to write in the light. Things that interest me, like family, faith, science, art, books, history, culture. I also write fiction, mostly fantasy. The kind of books I grew up on, and the types of stories I like to read. If you know Robert E. Howard, C.S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, and Ray Bradbury you’ll know where I’m coming from. I draw no comparisons; just that these are some of my influences, and what I aspire to.

Lately, from the Road.

I endeavor to publish once a week, with new original fiction every 2nd and 4th Thursday, and personal essays on alternate weeks. A bit of family, a bit of faith, a bit of the strange and the imagined, and a long look at the ordinary things that keep us human. Please subscribe to follow along, either here or over at Substack, to receive my musings direct to your inbox. And to keep abreast of upcoming news about what I have in WIP, and hope to be publishing soon. I hope to see you on the road.
